1.  God
2.  Parents
3.  Others sanctioned by God & Parents

b.  Teachers
c.   Babysitters

1.  Immediately

3.  Unconditionally?
4.  Thoroughly ?

C.  To realize there are consequences for disobedience
1.Parental discipline
2. God’s discipline

Suggested Vocabulary:
authority       commandment    submit   institution     obey        government
Suggested Books:
I put all suggested books & others  on hold at library to check & possibly buy. The ones that I underline are not available at library.
Chronicles of Mansoul by Ethel Barrett (Family)
*This book is part of the Paul Bunyan Classics, could be good, but I can not find it at either library-if someone knows more about it, we could buy it off Amazon.
The Hiding Place by  Corrie Ten Boom (Family?)
Good Morning, Miss Dove by  Frances  Patten (G 3-6)

Suggested Games:
1)    Mother May I-Mother gives command. Child must say “Mother, may I?” before action or go to back of line.
2)   Stationary Scavenger Hunt-Leader instruct, ‘Go get a glass of water; (brown shoe, belt, orange juice). Quickest obedience wins a point.
3)   Ringmaster-Leader says,
‘Hop like a bunny’
‘Waddle like a duck’
‘Leap like a frog’
‘Crawl like a snake’ After the children get the hang of it, say it faster & faster.

  1. I think this blog could save us a lot of time as far as being on the same page in Konos, although everyone will have to check this often if we want to make this a reality! starting with me:)

Ruth - maybe we could call it "Tacoma Teacher's blog" or "Konos blog"
Someone may have a better idea ! thanks again Ruth for setting it up, we need all the help we can get.

  3. I am going to incorporate the "Mother May I" game in to spelling class.
ex. Student "teacher may I take 1 bunny hop?"
Teacher "first spell o-b-e-d-ie-n-c-e, Great job!, you may take 1 large
bunny hop. Something like that anyway:)

  4. This is Shannon - Sounds good, Joanna. I am going to have the high school bring in poems that show obedience (they are doing alot of looking for/reading poems right now).
By the way, "Good Morning, Miss Dove" is a very good story, I saw it in the suggested reading above.

Ruth - do you have any idea why I can only comment as "anonymous"? I don't seem to be able to use my username - do you think you can help me?

  5. Our school library has a couple of books on how our government works. I wanted to go through this with the 6th grade class.

Shannon-I had the same (comment) problem awhile back. You might want to try using a browser other than Internet Explorer. Google Chrome works for me.

  6. I was planning on using the suggested vocabulary words that Kathy sent out in her Konos email for the high school vocabulary this week.
Also, I would like the high school to do a Power Point on Martin Luther or Johann Gutenberg (maybe both?) that can be shown during Konos if we would like.

  8. We can make and hang time line characters for Martin Luther and Johann Guttenburg. I can do this with my 6th grade class unless someone else wants to.
